Claude, I am only interested in this if we can take over where Innovate left off. I don't have time to build it from scratch. I talking about readership and history. Reid

I'm going abroad for a few days but will be back home on Wednesday: will see about TCFIR then. Quickly: of course if you can host the site, there is no need to use WordPress. I only suggested it because the blog already existed. As to open sourc...

I am not that familiar with Wordpress and its capabilities. I am a editor for another journal and I was told about a journal software package that looked pretty good. I have the capacity to host massive database driven applicatios. Some of my col...

A post-coma rather than a post-mortem, I hope. The cause seems likely to be credit restrictions. I agree with you on social networking not being adapted to an online journal: that's why I suggested reviving the blog. Blogs are far more suitable f...

I personal don't buy the notion of failure. On the surface Innovateonline looked like what should be a successful endeavor. It seems that notion is incorrect. I suspect that the demise is not related to the journal itself, but rather peripheral is...

I don't know if this is true. I do know that Innovate is an important organ for communicating the impact of technology in education. IMHO, Jim has done an incredible job of making it a fine open-source for scholarly information. If it is true, it ...

Jim, Is there any sound reason why a person shouldn't be allowed to take up to a year or more to complete a course, particularly if all the curriculum and content is given online. Reid

Wisdom is not necessary. As Steve points out, the semester/trimester/quarter system is based on tradition. Some schools are revolutionizing the college calendar. For example, Rio Salado College in Phoenix starts each of its online courses every t...

Why are you interested in joining Innovate-Ideagora?
I was formerly an associate editor at Innovate and the producer of the "Perspectives" series. I am interested in what goes on here because I think it is a valuable resource for the educational community.

I think Denise and Jim have done a fabulous job with this site and I would like to take advantage of their hard work.
What do you think are the most pressing issues/challenges in using technology to enhance the educational process?
The prevailing sentiment that current technologies are "virtual" and therefore less rigorous than traditional tools and pedagogies.

Unpaid Advertising

This blog has been take over by commercial interests. The last three posts are advertisements and are not about serious discussions.

I would not mind this if I knew they were paying something to support Innovate!

This site is almost as painful as using Farcebook but hey, if it generates income for someone i'm glad to be of service. What should we be discussing anyway?

Mark,

We have evaluated WizIQ and Have worked with Moodle but are by no means up to speed on that technology. Authorstream is entirely new to us.

I would really like to hear your opinions on the TQM questions.

Thanks for your response.

Hi Reid,

With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
